With a focus on ensuring efficient and compliant financial practices across growing international businesses, the Team is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to play a key role in in managing accounting operations for Estonia and Lithuania, with payroll responsibilities limited to Estonia.

About the Role

Ensure accurate and compliant accounting for Estonia and Lithuania, harmonize back-office operations to improve efficiency, and manage payroll processes for Estonian employees. You will be a key contributor to optimizing financial operations across borders, providing reliable reporting, and supporting business growth. By aligning processes and maintaining high standards, you’ll help drive birkle IT’s financial success.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities for Lithuania while collaborating with outsourced Lithuanian accountants for tax declarations and the annual report
• Ensure compliance with local accounting and tax regulations in Estonia and Lithuania.
• Prepare and submit VAT declarations and other statutory reports for both countries.
• Manage and process payroll for Estonian employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local laws.

Process Harmonization:

• Collaborate with the Lithuanian back-office team to streamline and standardize accounting practices across both countries.
• Implement processes to minimize duplication of efforts and enhance efficiency.

Financial Oversight and Reporting:

• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Provide timely and accurate financial reports to management.
• Ensure expense reports comply with company policies and are properly documented.

What You Bring to birkle IT

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent qualifications - a relevant accounting certification or a significant experience.
• Extensive experience as an Accountant or Senior Accountant, preferably in an international environment.
• Strong understanding of Estonian accounting and payroll laws; familiarity with Lithuanian accounting practices is a plus.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with payroll systems and processes specific to Estonia.
• High attention to detail in all financial operations.
• Strong ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
• Fluency in English
